Get these five things right
- Confirm entry requirements for your passport.
- Book accommodation in areas that fit your itinerary.
- Set up internet access before or at the airport.
- Know how you are getting from the airport to the first hotel.
- Bring more than one way to pay.
You do not need to master the train system
Use a current mapping app, follow the line name and platform number, and allow extra time in large stations. You will probably take a wrong exit at least once. That is normal, not a failed itinerary.
Keep the schedule loose
Changing neighborhoods and navigating busy stations takes energy. Two anchor activities per day plus flexible food and wandering time is a better starting point than a minute-by-minute plan.
